Recent wet weather that has soaked wide parts of Colorado has flooded a local fairground, sinking a popular upcoming festival.

Thorntonfest, scheduled this Saturday, has been canceled because of severe flooding of the festival field at East 108th Avenue and Colorado Boulevard, the city announced.

Last year 45,000 people attended the festival.

“Even though the Saturday forecast calls for a nicer day, we must make the call now,” Thornton Community Services Executive Director Mike Soderberg said in a media release. “Attempting to host an event on fields this wet would result in tens of thousands of dollars in damage.”

The city can’t move the festival to another local venue because all other fields are taken by sporting events on Saturday.

Thornton said it will refund vendor fees collected for festival booth space.

The Cottonwood Classic, a 5K run-walk, will be held as scheduled on Saturday.

Tussing Elementary Third Graders!

This is absolutely grrrrrreat

Thought all of you might appreciate this from 3rd graders.

After all the bad press over a few teachers who stepped out of line teaching songs to our children, this one is one you will be so proud to hear. At the end of the song you can order the sheet music.

Awesome. I hope this sweeps our country and gets sung in all our schools. The music teacher wrote the song and had all the third graders sing. Enjoy — great message.

From the third graders of Tussing Elementary, Colonial Heights, Virginia.
